Participation in the 25th MPOB TOT 2019

On July 9th, Everchem and it’s representative, participated in the 25th MPOB TOT 2019. The Transfer of Technology Seminar and Exhibition was officiated by YB Puan Teresa Kok, Minister of Primary Industries. It was held in the MPOB head office in Bangi, Selangor.

The main objective of the Research and Development in MPOB is to transfer all the technology available to the industry. MPOB has always welcome entrepreneurs to take up their technologies to be commercialized, provided under mutually agreed terms and conditions.

The forms of technology transfer or collaboration, in general, do not involve MPOB directly in the business of commercial production, processing or marketing. MPOB will license its technologies to the interested parties to produce and market the products.

MPOB generally does not involve itself directly in the business of commercial production, processing or marketing. We license our technologies to interested parties who will do the production and marketing and of the products.

Some of the processes include:-

  • Licensing

Any interested party may be licensed by MPOB the patents and the know-how of the technologies for commercialization with mutually agreed terms and conditions and payment of royalties.

The production and marketing are to be carried out by the licensee. The licensee will also be imposed with royalties based on the percentage of sales or as a lump sum or both. The licenses may be exclusive or non-exclusive.

  • Pilot Plant Development

MPOB may conduction further development work when necessary with the interested party at the scaled-up pilot plant level. The cost is negotiable with government grants applied for, where available.

  • Incubator Facilities

MPOB may allow its facilities to be used for trial manufacturing and marketing of products subject to payment of fees. This enables the entrepreneur to test the product and market on a small scale before making a decision to invest heavily in a full-scale production plant.

  • Continuous technical support

(i)   MPOB will continue to provide technical support through its researchers if required even after commercial production. Consultancy fees may be charged.

(ii)  MPOB also provides consultancy to help the oil palm industry apply MPOB’s research findings in industry operations.

  • Collaborative R&D

MPOB also collaborates with external parties to develop certain technologies of mutual interest upon mutually agreed terms and conditions. These technologies are then transferred to the industry as mentioned above

Many of the technologies and products developed by MPOB had been commercialized. There are the red palm oil, aluminum harvesting pole, mechanical loader (grabber), palm-based printing ink, healthful margarine and oil blends, goats’ milk soap and some of the personal care products.
